Pregnancy Test

If you are sexually active and miss a period, it is a good idea to take a pregnancy test. You can buy a home pregnancy test at a grocery or drug store. You can also get a pregnancy test at your doctor’s office or a local clinic. Many family planning clinics offer free or reduced cost pregnancy tests. The average cost of a pregnancy test at a clinic is $10-$15.

Three Main Options

If you find out you are pregnant, it is important to know you have three main options: parenting, adoption, and pregnancy termination (abortion). Educate yourself about these options and make decisions based on what is right for you. Decisions about your pregnancy are yours to make.

  • For help in choosing what is right for you, talk with your partner, close friends or family, or a health care professional. To find a clinic with options counseling in your area call the Family Health Hotline at 1-800-322-2588.
