The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) has changed the name of the Children’s Health Insurance program from “Healthy Kids Now!” to “Washington Apple Health for Kids”.
Washington Apple Health for Kids provides medical, dental and vision benefits to children under age 19 through the Medicaid and S-CHIP programs. There are no deductibles or co-pays. The insurance is free or low-cost depending on your family’s gross monthly income and is available to both citizens and non-citizen children.
If your family’s countable income is below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, the coverage is free of charge. If your family’s countable income is between 200% – 250% of the Federal Poverty Level, there is a monthly premium of $15 per child, with a $45 per month family maximum. The income guidelines below can help you determine if your child may be eligible for the free or low-cost program.
